Into the mirror – the original movie of Mirrors

clip_image001“Into the  Mirror” is the original of “Mirrors” released in USA in August 2008. While two movies share an ex-cop turned guard, mirrors and a department store as important elements, similarity ends there.

The American remake with Kiefer Sutherland as the hero has gores and action scenes as can be expected from the famous agent of 24. On the contrary, the Korean original released 5 years before is more of a thriller and psychological drama.
Director: Sung-ho Kim

If you watched “Mirrors” and remember the opening throat-cutting scene, try this similar opening scene of “Into the mirror”. Less gore but more style, especially in the part where the victim’s blood flows along the tiles.

There is one more similar scene – the end of the movie with a very clever twist. I won’t tell about it to avoid a spoiler.

Other than those items mentioned above, the Korean original is quite a different story from the remake and deserve watching as a different movie.

In a way, the movie may look better if you are a non-Korean because voice performance of some actors is quite below average and only Koreans can feel that.
